Arisa, Simona Molinari, Paolo Belli and his Big Band, Frankie & Canthina Band, Maurizio De Giovanni: the big concerts and shows of the summer in Amalfi. Amalfi in Jazz, the Sunset Concert, disco nights. New is the vinyl set in Piazza Duomo and the Scene d’aMare theatrical review: all 2024 events promoted by the City of Amalfi with free admission.
Sound bursts into Amalfi, which is transformed into a large natural amphitheater ‘en plein air.” The magic is about to explode with “Amalfi Summer Fest,” the program of events promoted by the Municipal Administration led by Mayor Daniele Milano, to experience the beauty of summer together under the banner of music, theater, literature and art.
Arisa, Simona Molinari, Paolo Belli with his Big Band, Ana Carla Maza, Matthew Lee, are just a few of the great artists who will perform this summer in Amalfi, one of the most fascinating stages in the world, touching extraordinary locations, from the Duomo to the most intimate and hidden city corners, or higher up along the slopes of the highest villages on the belvederes of bursting beauty.
Amalfi Summer Fest is thus confirmed as a reference point on the Amalfi Coast, in a crossover of genres, including Italian music remixed in a dance key, funky and soul contaminations, rock, black music, Latin jazz, bossa nova and gospel atmospheres. A groove with a strong emotional impact, crossing pop music and the energy of disco dance, for an unforgettable summer, made even more evocative by the architecture of the Cathedral and the monumental staircase that are illuminated, creating a unique setting. Amalfi in Jazz, the breathtaking Sunset Concert on the beautiful panoramic terraces overlooking the sea, the fascinating celebrations of the Byzantine New Year, including historical re-enactments, investiture of the Magister, fire shows and concerts in Piazza Duomo.
It will also be a celebration of the Motown Sound and its role in the 1960s in the spread of the R&B genre and racial integration in pop music-a tribute to the creative genius of great musicians who have become legends in music history.
In addition, after last year’s highly successful Cover Night experiment, the pure and disruptive energy of disco music in the square returns by popular demand, with a special live set featuring exclusively vinyl records.
New in this edition is the Rassegna “Scene d’aMare,” between theater and literature: two appointments that will enrich the summer program, which will feature, among others, writer Maurizio De Giovanni, actors Paolo Cresta, Rosaria De Cicco, Alessio Sica, Marianita Carfora, Alfredo Mundo, Riccardo Maio, Gennaro Monti, Debora Sacco, Michele Costantino and musicians exponents of the great Campania jazz school.
A dense and growing program of events, which will also be accompanied by Borghi in Festa, the itinerant review among the hamlets of Amalfi in a sensory journey in search of the great identity heritage and melody of Italian and classical Song. There will be no shortage of the Summer of Children, the exclusive program designed for children, and great exhibitions.
“Amalfi Summer Fest is a wide-ranging and varied cultural and artistic proposal to experience all together moments of light-heartedness and merriment,” stresses Mayor Daniele Milano, “In the last editions we recorded record attendance. It is a program of events designed to bring joy to all our citizens, young people and all the international tourists who have chosen Amalfi as a tourist destination. Dedicated routes to discover Amalfi, its points of interest, its historical and identity heritage, and its beauty. Amalfi Summer Fest fits into this vision, to create dynamism and vitality, with free appointments, because culture has no barriers.”
“Cathedral Square is transformed into an elegant living room, with atmospheric music under the stars. The lights go out, only the architecture of the Duomo is illuminated, and poetry opens wide to the viewer’s gaze. It is one of the most powerful and evocative images of Amalfi Summer Fest,” explains Enza Cobalto, councilwoman in charge of Events, curator of the summer events program. “The festival is characterized by its international vocation. The basic idea that drives the artistic choices is to give life to moments of entertainment dedicated to the City and to make the stay in Amalfi pleasant for tourists. We will have jazz in all its nuances, from interplay and jazz improvisation to pop-jazz, with great Italian and international resounding voices, including Simona Molinari and Ana Carla Maza. We will be swept away by the magic of the acoustic Sunset Concert with Lucy Kiely and Cherubino Fariello. We will dance with Paolo Belli’s Big Band and drag shows inspired by great Italian music remixed in a disco music key. We will discover the most beautiful corners of Amalfi with Borghi in Festa, which will add to the program of events. And grand finale with the Byzantine New Year and an incredible artist, Arisa, an extraordinary voice for an exclusive evening in Piazza Duomo.”
