Guided tours
AmalfiTourGuide ‘s tour guide is Michele, who since birth has lived among the lemon-growing terraces of the village of Pastena, a hamlet of Amalfi. His love for his land and passion for local art and history allow him to ‘guide’ his visitors to unique, often hidden and therefore most authentic places on the Amalfi Coast and beyond!
Michele’s suggested itinerary goes in search of Amalfi’s ancient art treasures and gold.
Amalfi is truly an enchantment, especially at sunset! Its glorious past returns a unique landscape of towers and monasteries, houses leaning on each other and green terraces overlooking the crystal clear sea, marveling visitors from all over the world.
Along the way we will explore hidden corners and ancient alleys leading to the Arsenal and Compass Museum, the Cathedral of St. Andrew, the nearby Paradise Cloister, the Museum of Sacred Art, and the Crypt that holds the relics of the Apostle Andrew.
A few flights of stairs (alternatively elevator) will lead between breathtaking views and lemon gardens owned by Michele’s grandfather. There they will delve into the history and cultivation techniques of the ‘sfusato amalfitano’ lemon and get a taste and smell of authentic lemonade from the Coast.
More steps, but downhill, will lead inside the Valley of the Mills to the oldest lemon farm, with its small Museum of Peasant Art and an artisanal limoncello production workshop, where tasting is a must!
Retracing your steps back to Piazza Duomo, you will finally find the Amalfi Hand Paper Museum, located in an old 13th-century paper mill and housing the ancient machines used over centuries to make ‘bambagina’ paper.
A guided tour also of the hidden City therefore, and for this reason more authentic, that will make your stay in Amalfi memorable!
