“<Parrosto>was the nickname of Mario Esposito, my grandfather, a true fisherman from another time.”This is how Mario begins to tell us his story, that of his family and how he started his work.
“Following in the footsteps of his ancestors, Grandpa spent night and day at sea fishing with his sons, including my dad Valentino. Once he returned from the fishing trip, as a skilled fishmonger, he would proclaim his wares to everyone by shouting in slang: <Sò pisc p’arrost!>, i.e. <are fish for roasting>, hence the name Parrosto…”
The origins of this name
Una story, Mario’s, that has a long tradition, made of passion, the passion for the sea that over time he has combined with another great passion of his, that for music, born by chance but cultivated year after year, sacrifice after sacrifice and that has accompanied him throughout his life.
Mario tells us that after finishing his studies he began working with his father, then other experiences with several other businesses until he decided to take the plunge: in 2022 he bought his own boat and chose to experience the sea in his own way by accompanying visitors to discover the coast to the sound of the accordion!
