The deconsecrated Church of S. Michele Arcangelo was founded in Pogerola between 1179-1181 by Orso Castellomata, a wealthy Amalfi merchant. Recently restored, it shows a characteristic inscribed Greek cross plan of Byzantine and Armenian influence.
The church can be reached by climbing a flight of steps that leads to a picturesque terrace overlooking the sea with a panoramic view of Amalfi. The church inside cannot be visited, but it is possible to admire the exterior facade that overlooks the sea of Amalfi.
