Church of S. Anna Piccola

The chapel of S. Anna Piccola, located in the Supportico S. Andrea, was built in the 14th century. It consists of a single room covered by a rectangular ribbed vault, supported on three sides by segmental arches.

Beyond the iron gate is a simple marble altar with an 18th-century canvas depicting St. Anne with the Madonna Bambina. The floor, probably built at the end of the last century, consists of ceramic tiles inlaid with geometric and star motifs.

The local community is extremely devoted to St. Anne as the patron saint of pregnant women. Tradition has it that expectant mothers make a vow to the Saint to obtain three graces from God: a happy birth, a healthy child and enough milk to be able to raise them.
