Matteo Camera (Amalfi 1807-1891), an archaeologist, historian, critic, numismatist, paleographer philosopher and man of letters from Amalfi, lived in this palazzo. Matteo Camera spent a lifetime studying, reading and writing about everything related to ancient history and the origins of his homeland and of southern Italy.
‘Memorie Storico-diplomatiche dell’Antica Città e Ducato di Amalfi’, the most important source for local historiography, is attributed to him.
