The Paper Museum is located in the upper part of town, at the beginning of the road leading to Valle delle Ferriere. It is set up in an old paper mill and it houses medieval tools and instruments, atmospheres and magic of the past, all from the Amalfi reality filled with glory, travels and adventure.
The paper mill-museum offers visitors the chance to go back in time and rediscover the millenary tradition of making Amalfi’s famous ‘bambagina paper’, which is strictly processed by hand, today as in the past. Each ivory-coloured sheet is handcrafted using pure cotton to ensure its durability.
During the interactive guided tour, children and adults can have fun making a sheet of paper by hand and admire all the ancient technologies used for paper production (multiple hammer machine, Dutch machine, flat paper machine).
