Supportico S. Andrea

Supportico S. Andrea is an example of the narrow streets in the town centre, mostly covered by medieval buildings and forming long porticoes. This type of urban architecture was the necessary consequence of upward housing development, due to the restricted spaces in the area. Bolvito tells of the fact that, if the city was invaded, the entrances to the streets were blocked off using chains and defence depended entirely on the use of sharpened weapons.
