Tovere is the only village along with Pogerola without access to the sea. It can be reached by walking up the steps from the village of Vettica Minore.
The views from Tovere are simply stunning; the village is dominated by the Arab-Byzantine style Church of S. Pietro Apostolo and its majestic bell tower.
The original name of the place was Tobulum, directly connected with the area’s local agricultural activity, and was the name of rural structures where the locals lived with their animals.
The modern urban development. Which began in medieval times, reached its peak in the eighteenth century.
