Belvedere San Lorenzo
The belvedere of San Lorenzo where the present monumental cemetery of Amalfi is located, and which a time was a Benedictine women’s monastery from 980, dominates the city giving the visitor a wonderful and fascinating viewpoint of the place unlike any other and spectacular at all times of the day, especially at dusk.
Reached in two ways: through convenient public elevators which can be accessed from the Town Hall Square and which in a minute allow you to reach the top of the belvedere, or by taking a walk through the path consisting of 400 steps, a choice, however, not recommended for “less trained” people, but a decidedly fascinating and unique option for those who feel ready for the climb.
Along the way, in fact, it will be possible to immerse oneself in a typical, authentic Amalfi, made up of narrow alleys, panoramic views at different heights and typical corners.
In short, an experience within an experience.
So whether one chooses to take a splendid walk through Amalfi’s narrow streets or prefers the convenience of the elevator, a visit to the San Lorenzo lookout is a destination not to be missed.
