The Paper Museum is a journey through the ages to discover the invention, production, and transformation of a product, paper, in the making of which Amalfi played a leading role.
Authoritative historians such as Matteo Camera point to Amalfi as the town that started handmade papermaking in the 13th century. Numerous paper mills developed around this massive production, located particularly along the Valley of the Mills. Linen, hemp cotton or jute rags could be used to make the handmade paper sheet, called bambagina.
The Paper Museum is a kind of time machine for visitors, thanks to which they can relive ancient productions and experience them with their own hands.
